Mental Health America of Roanoke Valley works for America’s mental health and for victory over mental illnesses throughout our area. Through advocacy, community education, professional training, and direct services, MHARV reduces the stigma surrounding mental illness; increases public knowledge of mental health issues; offers resources for children and families; and provides access to quality mental health treatment through a free clinic which serves indigent, uninsured adults.
All funds raised through the annual Walk for Mental Health will benefit the children and adults served by our agency’s programs. Walkers from throughout the Roanoke Valley will come together to increase community awareness of mental illnesses; reduce the stigma attached to mental illnesses, and raise funds to support our mental health free clinic; skills-building groups for children impacted by domestic violence, parenting education and support, and advocacy efforts.
